16-20 hour course with flexible scheduling options
Covers skills needed to recognize and respond to cardiovascular emergencies and choking for people aged 8 and over. Intended for workplace and general public.
Covers all CPR Level C course material plus 2-person infant CPR and use of a Bag-Valve-Mask. Intended for health care providers (physicians, nurses, paramedics and allied health care providers: RT, OT, PT)
Provides candidates with the knowledge and skills necessary to teach Canadian Red Cross First Aid and CPR courses.
Prerequisites:
Hold a current Canadian Red Cross Standard First Aid & CPR Level CPR-HCP certificate or equivalent
Be at least 18 years of age
Successfully completed a pre-course knowledge and skills test
Course Content - Includes teaching, facilitation, learning and assessment theory, individual and group assignments, practice teaching exercises, principles of injury prevention, inclusion and progressive learning. Red Cross Fundamental Principles and First Aid and CPR training philosophies are also reinforced throughout the course.

Recognition - Successful candidates are certified as Canadian Red Cross First Aid Instructors for 3 years.
*Re-certification clinic for First Aid Instructors is 8 hours.
Our basic level of Wilderness & Remote First Aid & CPR is for individuals who recreate or live in isolated or wilderness settings and need to respond to emergencies when advanced care is not immediately available. The course covers material in Red Cross Standard First Aid & Level "C" CPR/AED plus special material on techniques for wilderness and remote areas as well as offers strategies to provide extended care for up to 24 hours.
